Bonfire π€πΌ A New Social
Over the past year, we've been talking to builders across the open social web to help more users be protocol-agnostic on the platforms they're already on. One of these platforms is Bonfire Social.
Bonfire is a feature-rich, modular social media tool set built on ActivityPub that lets communities create their own platform using different building blocks. Some of the exciting building blocks include custom feeds, circles that let you post to specific groups of followers, and so much more.
With our partnership, we hope to bring two new important building blocks to Bonfire: Bridgy Fed and Bounce.
With Bridgy Fed, users will be able to bridge on a per-circle and per-post basis. This means that you can have a circle where you specifically post to the ATmosphere while others only distribute to users on the Fediverse! Users sometimes want to broadcast as loudly as possible, while other times they want to enclose a post for a community, and we're so excited to see Bonfire tackle this problem directly.
The integration with Bounce will make it easier for users to migrate a Bluesky, Blacksky, or any other ATmosphere account into Bonfire. From there, you'll be able to configure which circles are bridged and which ones stay within your Fediverse communities.
To make all of this happen, we're joining Bonfire's first roadmap fundraiser, which you can learn more about and donate to here. If you're excited about Bonfire's integration with ATProto, supporting the fundraiser is the best way to make sure they can put resources behind it.
We're looking forward to working with the Bonfire team on this and many other future projects. As with our partnership with AltStore, this is yet another example of how we can team up across the open social web and build bridges to help people find their people, no matter which platform they choose.
